Biography

Jim Moran has worked in agriculture and horticulture for over 25 years since graduating LaTrobe University with a Bachelor of Agricultural Science in 1991.  He has worked with the grains industry, specifically around biosecurity, for the last 10 years and has gained experience with pest and disease surveillance, emergency response, awareness raising and promotion of excellent biosecurity practices for grain farmers.

With the Grains Farm Biosecurity Program Jim has delivered biosecurity training and distributed many thousands of Grains Industry Farm Biosecurity Manuals, fact sheets, biosecurity fence signs and other biosecurity material such as sock covers and hand lenses.Recently, he has been busy with the sentinel silo surveillance project which has set up pheromone traps for catching the exotic stored grain pest Khapra beetle.

Jim lives in central Victoria with his family and is a busy community participant particularly at the local Masters Football Club and the Ballarat Umpires Group.  He also loves to travel and has combined his passions by playing overseas in the Bali round robin Masters tournament held over the Queen’s Birthday weekend.
