Grains biosecurity showcased at South East field day

South Australia’s grains biosecurity officer, Shafiya Hussein, received 104 visitors at her booth in the South Australia Department of Primary Industries and Regions’ tent, at the South East field days held from 18 – 19 March in Lucindale, South Australia.

The event attracted 22,000 visitors and showcased 679 exhibitions.

A total of 120 farm biosecurity signs were distributed and more information was shared about the Grains Farm Biosecurity Program, exotic hitchhiker pests and how they arrive in South Australia, the biosecurity booklet, how to pressure test silos, as well as upcoming grains biosecurity events.

Attending field days is an important activity for grains biosecurity officers as they engage with grain growers and industry stakeholders.
