Sunflowers (Helianthus annuus) were first domesticated in the Americas and have since been planted all over the world. In Australia sunflowers are used for the production of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated oils, bird seed and stock feeds. The main production areas are in New South Wales and Queensland, with NSW generally producing the majority of the crop. Only a limited quantity.
