Lupins (Lupinus spp.) are the most commonly grown pulse crop in Australia. Two species of lupin, narrow-leaf (Lupinus angustifolius) and albus (L. albus) are grown in Australia. Narrow-leafed lupins are the more common of the two species. Western Australia is the major producer of lupins in Australia followed by South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria. Australia is the only significant exporter of lupins. In most years a significant proportion of the grain is used domestically for stock feed.
